*Coastal Places of Interest (Blog Topic 3)

Favourite places to visit on the coast for Maritime photo taking or art making. Tourism notes:

Place of Interest:   Steamers' Bed & Breakfast, Gagetown

February, 26, 2023

The acrylic painting "Steamer, David Weston" is now on permanent display at Steamers' Bed & Breakfast, 74 Front St, Gagetown, New Brunswick.  Art cards and postcards are also on site for sale.

I spent a night at this place and its a very charming place, decorated with steamship collectibles, prints, plates, old ticket prints and newspapers all in celebration of steamships.  The original lights from the David Weston steamship is also on site, and I couldn't think of a more perfect place to house the acrylic painting of the historic steamer.

Place of Interest:  Cape Enrage Lighthouse, NB.

Cape Enrage Lighthouse is up top of a cliff over looking the Bay of Fundy.  On site there are activities for groups, a zipline, restaurant, and gallery.  Some of our hand-crafted nautical crafts, art and photo art cards are available for sale in the Cape Enrage Gallery.  Stop by for adventure, good food, and gallery treasures! (Opens for tourism season usually in May. See their web site for more information).

Place of Interest:  Alma Wharf, Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick.

May 1, 2022

One of my favourite places in New Brunswick is a little town called Alma. Located along the Bay of Fundy, the Alma wharf is where a large number of vessels will moor. Its a great place for artists interested in lobster boats and scallop draggers. The tides are also able to be observed there, with exposure to the bottom of the seafloor at low tide, and water at the wharf during high tides. Alma hosts a number of restaurants serving up fresh seafood dishes to delight your appetites. Stop into the Tides Restaurant for some fantastic seafood chowder!  Out of season, towards December, the wharf is decorated featuring a stack of lobster traps, done up like a Christmas tree. Alma is certainly a charming place to visit in New Brunswick.

Place of Interest:  Shediac, NB.

May 1, 2022

Shediac, New Brunswick is another favourite place on the east coast.  There are various beaches, wharfs, and camping sites for visiting tourists in and around Shediac.   The Shediac Tourism Park is the location of a giant lobster statue.  There is a yearly lobster festival there.  Pick up some lobster and other coastal foods locally.

Some of our art and craft products can be found at Maritime Crafts, Shirts and More, off Main Street, and also in the Red Building at the Shediac Tourism Park.
